Independent
Film 'Peoples' Wins 'Best Full Feature' at the Pocono Mountains
Film Festival
Strictly
Kings Productions has announced that their independent feature
film “Peoples” won two top awards at the Pocono
Mountains Film Festival on Saturday July 10, 2004. They were
honored to receive Best Full Feature Film and Best Supporting
Actor, Billoah Greene for his portrayal of Sorn Jackson.
Billoah
landed his first major role in Miramax’s “Levity'
which he co-starred with Morgan Freeman and Kirsten Dunst.
He is also featured in the Independent Film “Brother
to Brother” which premiered at Sundance earlier this
year. He can currently be seen playing one of the leads on
HBO's 'Everyday People'
”Peoples”
also won the Jury Prize for Best Feature Film at the 2004
Beverly Hills Film Festival.
'Peoples”
was filmed entirely on location in Louisville, Kentucky, the
hometown of writer / director Joseph Ardery and lead actor
John Hensley (starring in Nip Tuck on FX).
This film
offers a glimpse of the self-destructive lifestyles of three
childhood friends. 'Peoples' is a late coming of age story
and a searing drama of a forgotten corner of American life.
After spending only one semester away at college, Oliver Anderson
(John Hensley) is back in his hometown living with his wealthy
and conservative parents. He is reunited with his best friends,
Patrick (Joshua Harto) and Sorn (Billoah Greene), for one
last summer of wild fun.
Fueled
by the desire to avoid responsibility at all costs, the trio
has a simple set of priorities: get drunk, chase women, and
cause trouble.
As the
weeks go by, this reckless routine quickly becomes self-destructive.
A succession of dysfunctional relationships coupled with substance
abuse and an identity crisis lead the gang to realize it's
time to grow up.
'Peoples'
also stars Kate Mara ('Random Hearts”, 'Tadpole”),
Joshua Harto ('The Believer”, HBO's 'Oz') and features
a very special appearance by legendary star Ron Jeremy.
